The "Master Mason Rookie Award Program” envisions as an ongoing commitment to membership engagement and getting our new members involved within the lodge. It is exclusively for those members just entering the Craft. This program outlines twelve (12) requirements that must be completed within 12 months of their raising.

The goal of this program is to encourage new members to be active in the Lodge during their first year after being raised. This is to counter "the age old" problem of new members losing interest in Freemasonry. Also, to stem the tide of members looking to concordant bodies because of their dissatisfaction with their current situation.

Criteria for earning the Master Mason Rookie Award:

REQUIRED:

  1. Attend each degree at least once, by your own or another Lodge.
  2. Attend at least (1) Stated or Called Meeting of another Lodge.
  3. Attend at least (8) Stated or Called Meetings of the Lodge.
  4. Work on at least (1) Lodge Fundraising Event.
  5. Participate in at least (1) Lodge Work Day
  6. Assist Lodge Officers at least once in setting up the lodge room and preparing/serving the lodge dinner.
  7. Call (2) Members of the Lodge each month; introduce yourself and invite them to an upcoming meeting.

ALTERNATES: (choose any six of the following)

  1. Sponsor at least (1) Candidate into your own or another Lodge.
  2. Participate on the Degree Team for a Degree
  3. Deliver (1) of the Degree Charges.
  4. Work on a Lodge Open House or Fellowship Night.
  5. Organize or work on one Lodge Public Service Event.
  6. Attend at least (2) Schools of Instruction.
  7. Attend a Masonic Memorial Service.
  8. Serve on at least (1) Investigation Committee.
  9. Assist or visit a non-related shut it / hospitalized Lodge Brother or Widow.
  10. Attend at least (1) meeting of the Lodge Craft Club.
  11. Submit a Masonic or Lodge related article for publication in the Trestleboard.
  12. Attend an Educational Program sponsored by the Grand Lodge of Florida.
  13. Join with other Masons in a Masonic activity approved in advance by the Grand Master.

The future of our fraternity and our ability to continue to grow our membership is highly dependent on being able to engage and integrate our new members into the activities of the lodge. When new members become involved and active in their respective lodges they become the best prospects for new candidates for the lodge.

The Master Mason Rookie Award is an official means by which we can achieve these membership goals. Attached is a checklist for the Master Mason Rookie Award. Once it has been completed and signed off by their Mentor, it is to be submitted by the Lodge Secretary to the Worshipful Master for his review and approval.

Once approved, the recipient will be presented his award by the Worshipful Master at the next Family Night Meeting.
Masonic Education Videos offer a visually engaging way to inform yourself, candidates, or the general public about the history and culture of Freemasonry.
